1966

Joan Whitehorn ’66 grew up attending San Francisco 49ers games as her father, Marshall Leahy, was a longtime attorney for the team and later general counsel for the National Football League. Joan was among the first class of women to be admitted as freshmen to Santa Clara University. Following graduation, she worked as an executive secretary in the San Francisco financial district. Joan was also a devout Catholic and and devoted mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. One of her greatest pleasures was the friendships she developed at Bible study. Joan died July 27, 2023.

Correction: An earlier version of this Class Note incorrectly identified Joan as the attorney for the 49ers. In fact, it was her father. We regret the error.
