Jim de Lorimier ’51 was the seventh of nine children and a lifelong resident of the Monterey Peninsula. He met his wife, Rita, in Latin class at Pacific Grove High School. After Santa Clara, Jim joined the U.S. Navy and served as a communications officer aboard the USS Manchester during the Korean War. Following the Navy, he worked as operations manager and partner at Monterey Bay Packing Co. until his retirement in 1997. Pathologically punctual, Jim was fastidious about doing things “the right way” and home projects were generally over-engineered. He died Aug. 17, 2023.
