From flipping between French or Spanish on a dime to cooking gourmet meals, Jean Harris J.D. ’84 was a woman of many talents and skills. She lived a life of civic engagement and was a lifelong supporter of civil and human rights. Where others might have been thinking about retirement, Jean returned to school and at the age of 54 received her law degree. For 10 years, Jean practiced criminal defense law as a public defender. Even when she retired she continued to volunteer at Stanford’s Cantor Arts Center and the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco. Jean died Nov. 6, 2023, and is survived by family, including daughter Elizabeth Harris J.D. ’86.
