2000

Jason Baker JD ’00 was selected by the Campbell City Council to serve as mayor for the second time.
Baker was born in Utah and later moved with his family to New York. He graduated from UC Davis in 1995 and two years later attended law school at Santa Clara University. In 2004 he and his wife moved to Campbell.
"My wife and I, before we had kids, were looking for somewhere with a nice downtown within walking distance," he said. "The good farmers market was a pull. It just seemed like a nice community to raise our family." He established his own law practice in the city. "I wanted to do law and politics," he said. "I think that comes from wanting to help people."
Building a new library for the city is on his to-do list for 2016. Baker said he wants to see a regional effort to address homelessness and the dearth of affordable housing. And he’d like to see slower growth.
In his spare time, Baker said he intends to read city and regional plans and proposals. "I also like gadgets and running."
