In the fall of 2017, at the Santa Clara University School of Law Student Bar Association’s Halloween event, Jared Powell J.D. ’19 and Samantha King Powell J.D. ’20 met and instantly connected over a shared passion for law and community service. After graduating, Jared and Samantha moved to Las Vegas, where they married and launched their careers. Samantha took a pivotal role as general counsel for the Nevada State Public Charter School Authority, where she continues to navigate the complexities of education law. She collaborates closely with state and federal agencies, ensuring Nevada’s charter schools operate effectively and equitably. Meanwhile, Jared built a career as a trial lawyer specializing in complex spine injury cases. To date, he has overseen more than $200 million in settlements. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Jared always envisioned returning to Wisconsin to serve its diverse communities. At Milwaukee-based Badger Injury Law, he focuses on taking cases to trial, ensuring clients have the strongest possible representation against powerful insurance companies. Though his practice is now based in Milwaukee, Jared remains committed to serving clients in Las Vegas, maintaining deep ties to both cities.
