James "Jim" Gaylan McDonald MBA ’64 was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on Sep. 29, 1935, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on Aug. 28, 2014, after a stoic battle with cancer. Jim is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 37 years, Gratia McDonald, his children Michael McDonald, Jill (McDonald) Baigent, Michael Duffy, Jane Kronzer, David Matovich, and 10 grandchildren.

Jim moved to the Bay Area in 1960 to begin his 35 year career with Lockheed Missile and Space in Sunnyvale, Calif. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Utah and his MBA from Santa Clara University and was a member of Shriners International. He will be remembered for his vast knowledge of history and politics as well as being an ardent San Francisco 49ers fan. His love of jazz, fine wine, boating and classic cars enhanced his character and enriched our lives. His intellect, wit and kindheartedness will be missed by all.
