As a member of the Drain (Ore.) Black Sox, James “Jim” O’Rourke ’59 led the semi-pro team to take the 1958 National Baseball Congress World Series against Alpine Cowboys (Texas), a series later immortalized in a book. O’Rourke was named series MVP. After graduation, he was drafted by the Cardinals, with whom he had a brief career before heading to the minors. Jim retired from baseball into a career in real estate.  Jim died on Nov. 1, 2021.
