Alameda County Superior Court Judge James Cramer ’83, J.D. ’87 was deeply respected for his commitment to justice, and his integrity and fairness. Appointed in 2015, James was in his ninth year on the bench, handling a full schedule of cases with dedication and care. Before becoming a judge, he spent 11 years as an attorney in the Alameda County Public Defender’s office, following brief stints as a private attorney and prosecutor. Colleagues fondly remember him not only as an exemplary judge but as a dear friend. James died on March 20, 2024.
