Harley Deere ’55 displayed brave determination and deep levels of humanity until his final moments. He had a successful career in neurosurgery, primarily spent in Wiesbaden, Germany. Those who witnessed him in the operating room witnessed deep skill and respect for human life. He saved many lives through his work and took great care of every individual he interacted with. His own life was elevated by his loving wife, Sallie. The couple were always the life of the party, full of fantastic stories that left everyone feeling better about the world. In the end it was Sallie that he would call out for and she who stayed by his side, bringing him comfort and love as he headed to his final days. Harley died on Jan. 10, 2022.
