Hannah Baker ’16 received one of two 2016 Alumni Association Board of Director’s Service Awards, which provides financial support to seniors who are leaving SCU and going directly into a service program or project. After graduation, she will be hiking the Oregon and Washington stretches of the Pacific Crest Trail, and then Hannah will be spending two years with the Peace Corps. She is waiting to find out where in the world she will be serving and what she will be doing. Hannah was as a Community Facilitator in Casa Italiana for three years, which still stands as one of her favorite memories. At Santa Clara, she also realized how much she loved art history–so much so that she decided to major in it. Her senior thesis was "Why Have There Been No Great Roman Women Art Patrons?" written under her advisor Blake de Maria. She was fortunate to find faculty mentors who showed her what opportunities were out there for her, so her advice to students: "Tap your mentors." Hannah thanks her grandparents for all of their support.
