Greg Mengis ’94 is the new Broncos lacrosse head coach for the 2014–2015 season.

In 2012, Coach Mengis was inducted into the Santa Clara University Lacrosse Hall of Fame, where he played lacrosse for four years in the early ’90s, earning Team Captain and Coaches Award honors. He is a two-time WCLL All Star and helped lead Santa Clara to the WCLL Final Four three years in a row. Before tearing his ACL partway through his senior year, Mengis was ranked in the NCAA National top 10 in points as an attack man.

Mengis has stayed active playing and coaching lacrosse. His philosophy stresses a positive attitude, mastering the fundamentals, and teamwork. He has been the head coach of the Los Altos High School Varsity since 2009, and for the last three years he led the team to a 32-4 division record, two league championships, and 3 straight playoff appearances.

Mengis is a program director for Team NorCal Lacrosse, where he has coached U11, U13, U15, and high school teams to considerable success in regional and national tournaments over the last six years. He has played a number of seasons with the Palo Alto Club Lacrosse team and has coached with the Fremont Spartans, Diablo Scorpions, and Palo Alto Tomahawks club teams.

Said Coach Mengis, "I am excited to return to my alma mater and help lead SCU back to a winning tradition in the MCLA."

He will be a great addition to the Bronco Lacrosse Program, and the team is looking forward to having a successful season.
