2016

Grace Lacayo ’16 was presented with a Student Life Award in recognition of her contributions to the overall quality of life in the University community. She has participated in various aspects of Campus Ministry, has been a community facilitator for two years, and is currently the assistant resident director for the Xavier RLC. One of her favorite SCU memories was the formation process during her second year as a CF because she says, "I finally felt like I knew what I was doing!" As a part of the Xavier RLC, Grace founded the Catholic Relief Services Student Ambassadors chapter at Santa Clara which forms a national community of students committed to advancing justice, peace and human dignity. Grace, originally from Nicaragua, was excited to have her family travel such a long way for her graduation. Her words of advice to students: "Stick to your goals. Work to make them happen. And appreciate the people that were there for you at all times." After graduation, Grace will be moving to Washington, D.C. to pursue a master’s in health systems administration at Georgetown University. It’s a 14-month program, beginning in July, that will set her toward a career in healthcare management.
