Gerald Kirrene ’57 served as SCU Alumni Association President from 1973-74. In 2001, he received the Louis I. Bannan Award. He married Rosemary Reynolds, whom he had met at a sweet 16 party in 1951. For more than 60 years, they hosted special occasions for their large family. Gerald, a real estate agent, volunteered for Christian Brothers High School, Mercy Hospice, and the state capitol. He started the Christian Brothers Archives. Gerald died Oct. 4, 2022. He is survived by family, including daughters Patricia Zannetti ’86, Kathleen Gonzales ’80, and Sharon Cosbie ’81, sons David Kirrene ’85 and Kenneth Kirrene ’82, nephews Gary Kirrene ’93, Joseph Kirrene ’95, Charles Kirrene ’99, and Brian Kirrene ’99, widow Rosemary Kirrene ’57, son-in-laws Michael Gonzales ’79 and Douglas Cosbie ’79, brother Robert Kirrene ’60, and grandson Timothy Gonzales ’09.
