1950

For over 30 years, George Stevenson “Steve” Holeman, Jr. ’50 worked at San Jose City College. In his brief role as Dean of Student Activities during the 1960s, Steve met fascinating characters, including Eleanor Roosevelt, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Louie Armstrong. Steve himself played a part in history when he served as a medic in World War II. Steve was a great joke teller, music enthusiast, dancer, piano player (mostly ragtime), dog lover, and athlete. He and his second wife, Elayne, traveled the world playing golf.  Steve died at age 95 on July 2, 2021, and is survived by his three children, three step-children, and grandchildren.
