From childhood adventures playing baseball, swimming, and exploring the outdoors, to daring feats like his 4,500-mile cross-country bike ride, Gary McGowan J.D. ’77 approached life with courage, curiosity, and joy. Professionally, Gary devoted over two decades as an accomplished and respected assistant district attorney in Plumas County, known not only for his tireless service, mentorship, and integrity but also for small acts of kindness. Gary died on June 24, 2025. Gary is survived by sisters Gail McGowan ’76 and Mary McGowan MBA ’86, and brother Timothy McGowan MBA ’90. He was preceded in death by father Robert McGowan ’41, uncles Harry McGowan ’39 and Clay McGowan ’40, and aunt Faye McGowan Petronave ’40.
