Gardner F. Holmes J.D. ’73 on Jan. 18, 2009.  A native of Milwaukee, he joined the Navy and served aboard the USS Richmond for eight years. After World War II, he earned an electrical engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin, joined Westinghouse, and designed the engine room of the first atomic submarine, the USS Nautilus. While working at Westinghouse in Sunnyvale, he attended SCU’s School of Law at night and after graduating set up a practice in Cupertino. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three children; and three step-hildren.
