In 1977, Frederick Ahboltin ’72 followed his heart north to Humboldt County and found purpose in childcare, teaching, and nurturing young lives. Later, he opened Common Ground daycare, a beloved community space. Fred worked tirelessly in countless roles, often behind the scenes, to support others. Later in life, he discovered a joy for cycling, conquering long rides with wife Dorie and friends, and worked as a CNA caring for elders with the same tenderness he gave to children. Fred died on March 7, 2025.
