Frederic Begun J.D. ’88 practiced law in Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties for 34 years, mostly in family law. Fred learned from his mother the importance of giving back to his community. He served on the parks and recreation commission, Rotary Club of San Jose, and was a board member of Recovery Café, a nonprofit for the unhoused and those struggling with addiction. While he always considered himself a dog-lover, he was converted to a “cat guy” after meeting his wife, Shari, and they adopted several cats over the years, most recently Herbie and Yeti. Fred also had many passions including golf, live theater, wine and bourbon tasting, and throwing amazing parties for friends. Fred died May 6, 2023.
