Dr. Francis Lauren Keegan ’49 had a long and creative career as an educator and author. After serving with the Merchant Marines in World War II, he enrolled at Santa Clara University, and later, earned his master’s degree and Ph.D. in philosophy at the University of Notre Dame. He went on to become an assistant professor at Notre Dame, where he rose to assistant dean and co-founded the Jacques Maritain Center. In 1962, Frank was an early organizer of the Peace Corps in Washington D.C., then joined Georgetown University as associate dean and associate professor of philosophy. The loving husband and father of 10 died December 15, 2020.
