Known for his enthusiasm for teaching and devotion to students, Santa Clara University instructor Fern Silva died June 3, 2024. Fern was the digital cinema facility manager and lab instructor in the Department of Communication. He was known for always being available to assist students with their film projects, and for his dog, Glossie, always trailing not far behind. Fern taught at Santa Clara for more than two decades and was voted best communication professor in 2018. He also received the Nancy Keil Service Excellence Award for his administrative work within the film facilities.
