Retired Army lieutenant colonel Federico M.V. Tamayo ’71 graduated from Seaside High School and earned a B.S. in psychology. Fred helped pave the way at SCU for his sister, Captain Rita M.K. Tamayo ’76, to become a captain of the Army Military Police and the first female ROTC University Commander in the nation. A resident of Radcliff, Kentucky, Fred passed away on Nov. 11, 2018 at 70 years old. He was preceded in death by his father, Frederic Tamayo; his mother, Priscilla Velez Tamayo; his sister, Rita M.K. Tamayo; and Baby Tamayo. He is survived by daughter Kelsey Tamayo and husband Jonathan as well as his wife, Beverly Morton Tamayo.
