Eugene Pisenti ’53 loved sports, especially football. After a brief stint in the Army, Gene played football at Santa Clara University and was on the Orange Bowl champion team in 1949. He earned a degree in business but felt his true calling was in education and coaching. In 1956, Gene took the plunge, teaching and coaching students at Saint Mary’s College High School. He had an indelible impact on the children, and the class of 1963 would later set up a scholarship endowment in his name. He would later serve as president of the Northern Section California Interscholastic Federation Athletic Directors Association. Gene died Dec. 14, 2017, and is survived by family, including nephew Edward Pisenti ’59.
