A native San Franciscan, Elizabeth Sweeney Aguilar ’91 was a graduate of St. Anne School, class of 1983, Convent of the Sacred Heart High School, class of 1987, and SCU. She served as president of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority (Theta Nu chapter) at Santa Clara, 1990–91. She later earned a teaching credential and a master’s degree at San Jose State University. Elizabeth was a devoted teacher at St. Philip the Apostle School in San Francisco, Fairwood Elementary in Sunnyvale, and Covington Elementary in Los Altos. She was a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. Her greatest joy was her daughter, Elena. She loved being a Girl Scout as a child and later served as leader of her daughter’s troop. Eizabeth was also a tireless volunteer who was recognized with many awards for her service throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed traveling to Europe and throughout the United States, and particularly cherished her vacations to Palm Springs, California. She passed away on April 20, 2018, after a long illness. Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Anthony A. Aguilar, daughter Elena Marie Aguilar, father James M. Sweeney, and brother Michael T. Sweeney, all of San Francisco. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rita L. Sweeney. Her strength and courage during the last two years will forever be an inspiration to us.
