Edwin Elliston ’48 was born in the family home on North 10th St. in San Jose and attended St Patrick’s Elementary School. He graduated from Bellarmine College Prep in 1942 and SCU with a B.S. in mechanical engineering degree. Ed served in the Navy during WWII with overseas duty in the Philippines after the end of hostilities. He was a lifelong amateur radio buff who received his ham radio license in 1936 with the call sign of W6RAB. His other favorite hobbies included boating, fishing, and photography. Ed married Jacqueline (nee McCarty) in 1949 and settled in the Cambrian Park area of San Jose to raise their children. He worked at several aerospace companies in the area, including FMC, Westinghouse, Lockheed, and at UTC’s rocket booster test site off Bernal Road. He spent several years of his retirement living in Honolulu before settling in Chimacum, Washington. On Jan. 28, 2019, he passed away at the age of 93. Ed is survived by his children, Eileen Cully (Mike), Robert Elliston (Karen), and Richard Elliston (Patty), nine grandchildren, and eight-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife Jacqueline and daughter Joannie Ojeda.
