You couldn’t find someone kinder and more generous than Edward “Eddie” Owen if you tried. When wife Helen Marchese Owen told you “Eddie can do it,” she wasn’t lying—Eddie always came through and served with a smile. He loved to partner up with his wife and contribute to various local nonprofits, from JW House to Little Italy San Jose. He also looked out for the leaders of tomorrow, serving on the boards of San Jose Children’s Musical Theater, Christmas in the Park, and SCU’s Board of Fellows. Eddie was a great father to the people of San Jose, and cherished his roles as a husband, father, and grandfather at home. In 2017, Eddie and Helen celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and renewed their vows at Mission Santa Clara. He passed away on June 28, 2019, surrounded by loved ones after losing his battle against a rare autoimmune condition. In addition to his wife, Eddie leaves behind their two sons, seven grandchildren, and his two sisters. They will miss his welcoming smile and love for his cowboy boots.
