Gifted with perfect pitch, Donnell David Iden ’51 grew up with a piano and an accordion as a child and became an accomplished ragtime pianist. He was the life of every party. In 1964, he bought the Country Kitchen restaurant and Country Lanes Bowl in Gridley, California, and with his wife, Betty, would spend the next eight years turning the restaurant into one of the region’s most popular places to eat. Before he retired, Iden was the vice president of field operations of Pacific Coast Producers. Iden died March 19, 2021, survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, their four children, and many grandchildren.
