A gentle, giving, opinionated, obnoxious, and colorful soul, Donald Bond Ehrhart Jr. ’73 cherished socializing and had a knack for bringing all walks of life together. He always found the good in everybody he met and loved to help anybody and everybody who asked. His love of life, family, scotch, cigars, friends, and Christ—not necessarily in that order—were unsurpassed. One of his best qualities was giving hell to all he knew. It’s safe to say if you weren’t on the receiving end, you weren’t in his inner circle. Bond’s greatest joy, above all else, was family. He steadfastly stood by his children and grandchildren. He fought fiercely for their happiness. There has never been a prouder parent and grandparent than he. After a brief but valiant fight, Bond Ehrhart passed away on July 30, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Mitsch and Donald Bond Ehrhart Sr. Those who survive him include daughter Arden Jones and husband, Cullen; son Mitsch Ehrhart and wife, Teri; grandchildren Addyson Jones, Rhys Ehrhart, Josh Jones, and Zach Jones; sister Cynthia Bearden; companion and love Sally Young; former wife Melvia Ehrhart; and best friend Peggy Pekham.
