1957

While Donald Comstock ’57 would work most of the day at CalTrans, the early mornings were reserved for milking cows as a part-time dairy farmer. Over the course of his career, Donald would be part of the design team on the Elk River Overpass and Redwood Park Bypass among many other transportation projects in Humboldt and Mendocino counties. After retirement, Donald would spend weeks in Arizona for Spring Training. He’d also take to America’s open roads, crossing through Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona, and Nevada to visit family and friends. If Donald wasn’t tinkering in the shop or cutting wood, he could be found atop his Kubota mowing the lower fields to golf course standards. Donald died Sept. 25, 2023.
