1974

Deborah Anne Reeves ’74 was born to William and Adrienne Reeves in Los Angeles on Sept. 18, 1947. She was the second of three children, with an older brother, William, and a younger brother, Allen. Debbie earned her bachelor’s from SCU, where she was a member of the Black Student Union. She remained politically active throughout her life. Debbie was a devout member of the Baha’i faith and served in her last position as treasurer for the Sacramento Local Spiritual Assembly. She also served as a mentor, teacher, and friend to countless members of the Baha’i community. Debbie loved reading books and, in 2012, took over ownership of The Book Collector, a used bookstore in downtown Sacramento. On Sept. 6, 2019, Debbie passed away after a long illness. She is survived by her brother, William, her son, Mosi, her daughters Dalila and Anisah, and her granddaughter, Dalila’s daughter Nia. Debbie will always be remembered for her quick wit and humor, her intelligence, her fight for justice, her beautiful and contagious smile, and her enduring love for her family and friends.
