During his senior year at Santa Clara, David Coppom ’70 answered his lifelong calling to law enforcement by working as a patrolman with the Santa Clara Police Department. After a year, he graduated then served in the U.S. Army. Returning to Santa Clara PD in 1974, David rose through the ranks with quiet dedication—sergeant in 1981, lieutenant in 1985, and captain in 1997—serving with honor until his retirement in 2000. In 1976, David found his lifelong partner in Linda. David died on April 16, 2025.
