Beloved husband, father, son, friend, and teacher Dave Fiore ’79 was born on April 18, 1957, in San Francisco. He went to Pioneer High School in San Jose, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He attended SCU, where he met the love of his life, Tracey (Hammond) Fiore ’82. He played rugby and graduated with a degree in English literature. He attended San Jose State for his teaching degree and finally Western Oregon State College to earn his master’s. Dave and Tracey were married on July 10, 1982, at Mission Santa Clara. They lived in Chicago, Illinois, before moving to Bend, Oregon, in 1983. Dave worked for SAIF Corporation as a claims examiner before teaching high school English at La Pine High School and later at Mountain View. Dave and Tracey recently moved back to Bend after 14 years in Pendleton, Oregon, where he served as Uniserve consultant for the Oregon Education Association until his retirement in June 2016. Dave passed away suddenly on Jan. 31, 2018, following complications from a traumatic head injury. He was surrounded by family and friends while he wore his signature Hawaiian shirt and Pendleton Round-Up cowboy hat. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bev Fiore. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Tracey; sons Matt Fiore of Eugene, Oregon, and Mike Fiore (fiancée Abby) of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter Kimberly Kalin of Pacific Grove; father Marcel Fiore ’52 of Rockland, California; sister Jane Tilton (Mark) of Rockland; brothers Bob Fiore of Pleasant Hill and Steve Fiore of Richmond, Virginia; and numerous in-laws and nephews. Dave lit up every room he walked into with his contagious smile. He was a stranger to no one, full of life and laughter, and treasured by all his family and friends.
