Soccer and family were at the heart of life for Daniel Smith ’88. From a young age, Dan’s love for soccer shaped his journey; he had a standout career as a premier player, played at both Santa Clara and the University of Oregon, and later coached his three children. In his professional career as a CPA and later a founder and director at ThinkWise Inc. and Spectrum Health, and as a friend, coach, and mentor, Dan’s intelligence and deep faith inspired everyone around him. He died on March 3, 2025, and was preceded in death by his father James Smith MBA ’74.
