The last direct link to Hollywood’s founding families, Daniel Selznick made a lasting impact as a director, producer, executive, and author. Overseeing the construction of the Louis B. Mayer Theater at Santa Clara in 1967, Daniel later spoke at its 2017 reopening. Daniel’s career included a four-year role as a production executive at Universal Studios, producing the Peabody Award-winning documentary “The Making of a Legend: ‘Gone with the Wind’” with his brother, and various mini-series. Devoted to preserving his family’s legacy, Daniel was the director of the Louis B. Mayer Foundation, passionately supported the arts, and generously shared his memories of Hollywood’s golden age. Daniel died on Aug. 1, 2024.
