While attending Santa Clara University, Daniel Murtha ’60 participated in ROTC and, after graduating, was commissioned as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army. His military career took him around the world from Germany to two tours in Vietnam, Fort Sill to Fort Benning, and finally to the Pentagon. After retiring from the Army, he worked for the FMC Corporation on the development of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. Dan was married to Sallee for over 57 years. They shared a love for cruises and RV adventures with the Roadrunners Club. Dan died on April 13, 2025, and is survived by family, including daughter Kathleen Murtha ’85, son Thomas Murtha ’82, J.D. ’85, and daughter-in-law Lynn Murtha ’83, MBA ’87, and grandson Jeffrey Murtha ’19.
