Dan Oneal J.D. ’60 was born and raised in San Jose and was a graduate of Lincoln High School (’49) and Menlo College (’51) before joining the Army and being stationed in Germany. After his discharge, he returned to school and attended Stanford University (’57) and Santa Clara Law School. He enjoyed a 49-year career as a third-generation Oneal lawyer in Santa Clara County, where he primarily practiced criminal defense. Dan loved hunting and fishing at his family’s Isabel Valley Ranch. He could also be found playing golf at San Jose Country Club, followed by the invariable gin game. Later in life, he picked up the game of bridge, playing in numerous tournaments and earning the designation of “Life Master.” Dan is survived by his loving wife, Margaret “Mimi” Oneal; children Jeffrey Oneal ’83, J.D. ’86 and Lynne; Stepdaughters Anne Leeper, Jane Friedrich (Larry), and Julia Aspinwall, as well as grandchildren Nicole and Christopher Oneal and Mathew Leeper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Duncan Oneal ’23 and Patty Oneal, and his brother, Louis Oneal J.D. ’61
