A lawyer, philanthropist and entrepreneur, Colleen Engelmann J.D. ’78 was born on Feb. 28, 1944. She graduated from Austin High School in 1962 and was a classics scholar at the University of Minnesota, where she earned a degree in Greek and Latin. After receiving her law degree from SCU, she served as a corporate attorney for several major technology companies in Northern California, later establishing her own legal services practice, Virtual Lawyer, at a time online commerce was beginning to emerge. Colleen loved her ranch in Northern California, her many dogs, and enthusiastically supporting a variety of conservation and preservation organizations. She also enjoyed being a volunteer and docent for a diverse array of naturalist groups. At age 74, Colleen died on Jan. 19, 2019, following a lengthy illness. She leaves three siblings, Michael Engelmann, Julie Wacker, and Mary Murphy; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Stanley Engelmann; her mother, Delores Barnett; her stepfather, James Barnett; and brother, Larry Engelmann.
