Clare MacMillin ’23 performed in an online music festival hosted by Food For Hope, an organization created to combat food insecurity, which has expanded its focus to raising funds for music education and support for Black Lives Matter. The proceeds of the August 2020 festival, “Toward a New Dawn,” were donated to the Bayside Martin Luther King Jr. Academy—a K-8 school with a predominantly Black student population, which hosts the music education program Soundwaves. Clare, who performed a song by Alicia Keys, said the festival combines two of her passions: music and social justice.
