Claire Louise Rankin ’80 graduated from Leland High School in San Jose. During her last two years at SCU, Claire began her 39-year career with IBM in San Jose. For many years she was also active in her parish of Holy Spirit Church in the Almaden area of San Jose. Claire traveled extensively with friends and family, especially enjoying her yearly reunions with her raucous “Maui Girls.” After Claire’s marriage to Ken Manuele, she became sous chef, sailing first mate, dive partner, ski buddy, bike ride companion, travel partner, and coordinator. Together, they shared their home and trips with their many friends and relatives—and Lealiki, their golden retriever, was always there to welcome them home. Claire passed away at home in Stuart, Florida, on Feb. 23, 2018, after a 16-month intensive battle with breast cancer. She was 63 years old. Claire is the most beloved wife and best friend of Ken Manuele. She is the dear daughter of Ellen A. Rankin Larkin and the late Robert C. Rankin Sr. and dear stepdaughter of Michael M. Larkin. She is the sister of Robert (Rob) Rankin Jr., Bruce A. Rankin, Douglas and Lacey Rankin, Stuart (Ted) and Lisa Rankin, step-brothers Timothy (Tim) Larkin, Christopher (Chris) and Tracy Larkin, and Matthew(Matt) and Patricia Larkin. We know Claire will be forever remembered by her numerous, Nephews, God Children, extended Alexander, Rankin, Larkin, Green and Manuele Family and her many dear Friends.
