Armed with a knack for numbers and a degree in economics, Christopher Stover ’76 enjoyed a successful career as a financial analyst, beginning at American Microsystems and ending at Apple. Not long after moving to Sebastopol in 1998, Chris began a second career as an environmental activist, canvassing precincts and engaging with diverse viewpoints. A member of Preserve Rural Sonoma County, he spoke often at Board of Supervisors meetings and launched letter-writing campaigns to save the land. While undergoing radiation and chemotherapy, Chris worked with state agencies to prevent the destruction of Atascadero Creek wetland. As a diversion from politics, Chris entered his pastels and oil paintings—and won several times over—at Apple Blossom Festival Art Show and Art in the Redwoods. He was also an advocate for rabbits at the Humane Society of Sonoma County. Chris died March 21, 2023.
