Christopher Bernbrock ’74 always said it was not the years but the mileage that counted, and he certainly traveled far and wide in his lifetime. After graduating from Santa Clara, he taught ESL in Thailand, where he met his wife of 46 years, Yoopin. While pursuing advanced degrees at UCLA, Chris and Yoopin lived in Beijing, where their daughter was born. Chris led a significant United Nations Development Programme project with the Chinese Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations before completing his MBA. His 30-year IBM career spanned Asia Pacific, where he led global educational initiatives. Following a melanoma diagnosis in 2005, Chris deepened his faith, joining the Knights of Columbus and the Saint Peregrine Prayer Group with Yoopin. He died Dec. 16, 2023.
