Christina Robinson ’74 on Feb. 27, 2009. Christina Marie Robinson passed away with grace, dignity, and the loving support of family and friends in her home after a long battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and more recently, cancer. Diagnosed with IPF in 1999, she remained active much longer than most. Born to Gurney and Gabrielle (Mueller) Robinson in Livermore, Calif., she is survived by sister, Heather Robinson, brother-in-law, Tahir Akram of Kent, Wash., her aunt, Elisabeth Schaub and cousin Anna Schaub of Basel, Switzerland. As a child she traveled widely with her family but settled in San Jose after earning her BS degree at Santa Clara University and her Masters in Civil Engineering at Stanford. She very much enjoyed being part of the engineering community working for and with several firms in the area. She formed her own firm, Robinson & Assoc. in 1983, and most recently worked with Mason-Sulic, Inc. Along the way she happily participated with many engineering societies and worked diligently for scholarships and in the mentoring of students. She never missed the Senior Thesis Review of Civil Engineering Students at Santa Clara University, assisting many with their student projects. Christina enjoyed traveling, going each year to Basel, Switzerland for Fasnacht from which she always returned happy, rejuvenated, and armed with chocolate. The highlight of this past year was the great honor of being the celebrant at the marriage of Michael Meyer and William Bell who have been family since her college years. Special thanks are extended to Hospice of the valley, her nurse, Jeanne Fabricius and her caregivers, Seine Echeverria and Eufracia (Pressy) Orr for their excellent care and loving attention. Christina has asked that in lieu of flowers, people spend time in service to others. She will be greatly missed.
