Cherry Amabisca MBA ’76 spent 20 years in marketing management positions in tech before being recruited to Intel and moving her family to Helvetia, Ore. After leaving the high tech industry, Cherry co-founded Save Helvetia, a citizens’ group devoted to protecting Helvetia’s historic farmland from unlawful development. She led the group until her death, as they repeatedly rebuffed new attempts every year to erode Oregon’s unique land use laws. Cherry also co-founded the Helvetia Community Association, an educational and conservation non-profit organization, to foster knowledge and understanding of Helvetia’s rich Native American Atfalati and Swiss-German histories and cultures. Cherry died Sep. 18, 2023.
