A resident of Foster City, Catherine Lewis Costa ’68 was born in San Francisco and grew up in Hillsborough. She attended Notre Dame Belmont High School and SCU, where she majored in Spanish. She recently retired after an honorable 38-year teaching career at St. Catherine of Siena School, the parish in which she grew up. She enjoyed reading, Carmel-by-the-Sea, and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter. She was most proud of her daughters, as well as the students she taught, reveling in the accomplishments of them all. The beloved mother of Catie Costa ’93 and Christie Costa McMahon, loving sister of Steven C. Lewis, devoted grandmother of Megan McMahon, and treasured teacher to countless students, Cathy passed away on March 4, 2017. She touched many lives with her gentle and kind spirit and her unselfish willingness to help others.
