Carolyn Gallaghan ’74 on November 16, 2009. Born in La Plata, Maryland, on May 6, 1945, Carolyn moved with her family to the San Lorenzo Valley at the age of 13. She attended San Lorenzo Valley High, and graduated from Santa Cruz High School before getting her BA from San Jose State University. She received her JD from Santa Clara University, and had a bankruptcy law practice in Santa Cruz for more than 20 years. She loved to travel, and went often to watch opera in San Francisco and New York. She went to Africa where she hitch hiked from Morocco to Capetown at the age of 18. She fought a valiant battle with two kinds of cancer over the last decade. She is survived by two daughters, Anne Finstad of Sunnyvale, and Catherine Bobb of Fresno, one grandaughter Aurora Finstad, one sister in Fresno, Nancy Whitmore, and two brothers, Arthur Gallaghan of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Dan Gallaghan of Durham, North Carolina.
