Calvin Clarence Wilson ’71 was born in San Jose and graduated from Santa Clara High School. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Navy in both the Atlantic and Pacific arenas. Following the war, he continued his education at San Jose State and later earned his M.A. at SCU. He was both a teacher and vice principal at Chester High School in Chester, California, before returning to San Jose, where he worked in the Campbell Union District for 29 years as a chemistry teacher at Camden High School and dean of boys, director of education, and principal at Leigh High School. Calvin was an active member of the Lion’s Club, an avid golfer, and a loving family man who enjoyed helping friends and family. He died peacefully at home in San Jose on Dec. 30, 2017, at the age of 93. Calvin is survived by his loving wife of over 70 years, Bertie Mae; children Patricia Wilson Caine, Sue (Bob) Morrow, and Sharon (David) Fugitt; grandchildren Christopher (Jackie) Fugitt, Jennifer Fugitt, and Kayla Morrow; and great-grandson William Carson Fugitt. He also leaves his brothers, Mike (Thelma) Stepka and Robert Wilson as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and step-grandchildren.
