Bruce Labadie ’72 has been honored with the Cornerstone of the Arts Award by the city of San Jose for being known as San Jose’s “Music Man.” Labadie is responsible for developing the Paul Masson winery into a concert venue—within two years the Mountain Winery was hosting 150 annual shows. He also helped launch the San Jose Jazz Festival 30 years ago. Labadie has been part of Tapestry in Talent, the San Jose America Festival, San Jose’s Music in the Park, and Los Gatos’ Jazz in the Plazz. He received the Nobili Medal at SCU in 1972.
