Briana Mitchell ’13 is starring as the titular character in George Bernard Shaw’s "Major Barbara" at Mountain View’s Pear Theatre.

As Mitchell explained to the Mercury News, the play is incredibly relevant.

“It deals with broad questions about humanity — What drives people? What is morality and what does that mean? But it’s a timely piece too, because it deals with socioeconomic status, with money and its impact on society, with power and how people use it.”

Mitchell, originally from Portland, Oregon, moved to the Bay Area to attend Santa Clara University in 2009, and now resides in Mountain View. She described her character, Major Barbara, as “a very complex, thoughtful and intentional person. She really cares about making a difference in the world, and being a part of something bigger than herself.”
