Brendan Riley ’88 is an ATA Certified Translator of Spanish to English specializing in literary translation whose recent publications include The Bible: Living Dialogue (2015), a book of interfaith dialogues by Pope Francis, Rabbi Abraham Skorka, and Dr. Marcelo Figueroa; Caterva (2015) by legendary Argentine novelist Juan Filloy; and The Great Latin American Novel (2016) a book-length survey of the genre by Mexican novelist and scholar Carlos Fuentes. Riley’s work has appeared in numerous publications, both in print and online, including The New York Times, The Believer, Numéro Cinq, Drunken Boat, Bookslut, Little Star, The White Review, Your Impossible Voice, SPN Magazine, and Publishers Weekly. Additionally, Brendan has been a full-time high school teacher since 1994. He currently teaches 10th grade humanities, AP English language and composition, and journalism at San Diego Jewish Academy in San Diego, California.
