Recognizable by his wide grin and witty personality, Barry Mundt MBA ’64 will be remembered for his career success and mentoring others. Inspired by his father, Barry studied industrial engineering at Stanford and joined Lockheed Missiles and Space Co., working on the development of the Polaris submarine-based missile system. After earning his MBA at Santa Clara, Barry was hired by Management Systems Corporation, was elected president of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, and served as the international management consulting partner for Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler. In his free time, Barry remained active in several professional engineering organizations. For many years he was also part of the Resurgens Club of Atlanta, an organization made up of both Black and white business leaders seeking to promote and develop racial equality in business hiring practices. During retirement, he even found time to write and co-write five books on various consulting and operational management topics. Barry died Dec. 27, 2023.
