A beacon of seemingly endless energy, Barbara Laubacher ’73 was voted “most spirited” in high school. She met her husband, Thomas Laubacher ’71, at Santa Clara University, where she majored in English. After graduation, she and Tom moved to Oxnard, Calif., where they raised four children, and Barbara became deeply involved in the local community. She found a particular calling volunteering with her children’s school library. She later worked for the medical library at St. John’s Hospital, where she assisted doctors in finding research materials and assisted in the transition to digital records. Friends and family were touched by Barbara’s sharp wit, love for crosswords, jigsaw puzzles, and old movies, and her competitive edge in games. She died Aug. 9, 2024.
